Join Manchester Historical Society Curator Shawn Harrington for an engaging evening looking at the old maps of Manchester. From 1856 to 1869 and into the early 1900s, what can we learn from these maps? How do we read them? What records of history do they hold? How accurate were they? He will share the changes in the landscape and streetscape, where people lived, worked, and played. Explore the areas that were highlights of the Victorian era Manchester, and what these places look like today.

GUEST SPEAKER:
Shawn Harrington
serves as Curator of the Manchester Historical Society and is a lifelong resident of Bennington County. Over the past eight years, he has been digitizing the thousands of pieces in the MHS collection to use for outreach and education at local schools, as well as in print and social media. He has worked for the past two decades in the financial services industry with a tenure as a member of the New York Stock Exchange and resides in Manchester Center with his two sons.

 

The talk will take place on Thursday, May 30 from 5:30 to 7:00 pm at the Manchester Community Library, and also online via live stream (originally scheduled on April 4)
