Doubt, Commitment, Endurance: Craft Talk Lunch with Chris Wells
Description
Join us for a chef-created lunch buffet at the Southern Vermont Writers’ Conference, followed by a 2-hour craft talk and presentation led by writer, storyteller and teacher Chris Wells. A warm and captivating speaker, Chris will share practical and motivational tips for anyone who wants to go deeper with their writing practice. This lively presentation will include a wide-ranging discussion followed by a Q&A session—a real opportunity for participants to get specific guidance on the challenges and barriers they face as they try to make time and space to face that empty first page, or to re-engage with a neglected project with renewed dedication and purpose.
Chris teaches writers of all kinds, in all kinds of settings, so he’s learned what impedes people most, and has developed a trunkload of ways to help them stay in the writing game for the long haul. If you’re looking for a way into a new writing project, or long to return to—or initiate!—a dedicated writing practice, this talk is for you.
About Chris: Chris has been teaching and leading workshops for fifteen years in New York City, LA, the Hudson Valley and online. Through weekend intensives, weekly writing groups, one-off workshops and one-on-one sessions, Wells guides people to find the deeper truth and meaning in what they’re writing, inspires folks to develop a writing practice, and to reach their goals.
He teaches regularly at Omega Institute, and also at Actors’ Center NYC, LA County Museum of Art, Cal State Sacramento, CalArts, the Rowe Center and more.
In addition to his teaching practice, Wells is an Obie award-winning writer, actor and community leader who creates live events, music, and stories. He is the founding artistic director of The Secret City, a nonprofit community arts organization in New York City founded on the principles of creative mindfulness. Chris serves as curator, lead artist, and producer of The Secret City's dynamic live performances in NYC, Los Angeles, and Woodstock, NY.
His theatrical work has been honored with two LA Weekly Awards for Best Actor, a shared Garland award for playwriting, and many Ovation awards for participating in ensemble-created work. In 2010, Wells received a special citation Obie Award for service to the NYC artistic community.
This craft talk with Chris Wells will take place on Tuesday, April 1 from 12:30 pm to 4:00 pm in the Battenkill Room at The Equinox Hotel & Resort.
The $65 registration fee includes lunch. This craft talk may be purchased individually or you can purchase all three craft talks for a special rate of $175.
