Collage Art Class (Winter 2025)
Description
Collage is a very forgiving and easy to learn medium. Part of the fun is collecting images and papers that appeal, and then using them to make a very individual work of art. The class will start with a brief introduction to surfaces and types of papers to work with, and glues (dry and wet ones), followed by a short primer on basic principles of composition. The first collage will begin with a fun exercise to “get you out of your head” and into your work. Increasingly, as you work on your own pieces, you will develop your own vision. Students will receive a short list of “what to bring” after they have registered for the class. Lynne will have available a wealth of materials she has collected over the years. Snacks and a beverage will be provided. Enrollment is limited to 7 students.
Guest Instructor:
Lynne Averill LOVES to teach collage. She has been an artist for over 35 years, working primarily as a painter, as well as in collage and mixed media. She grew up in Argentina, traveled extensively, and lived in Maine, San Francisco, and Vermont, where she has taught along the way.
This workshop will take place on Sunday, January 12 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Lynn's art studio in Manchester.
