    Ceramics - Winter Workshop #1 *SOLD OUT* Date: Wednesday, January 23, 2019 Time: 6:00 pm-9:00 pm Location: Manchester Arts Studio & Gallery Fee: $150

    Students will learn the basic skills of hand-building – pinch, coil, and slab – as well as basic wheel-throwing techniques. All projects will be kiln fired. Materials include a 25 lb. bag of clay, glazes, and firing. Additional clay may be purchased for $18 a bag. This workshop is open to all levels. Class size is limited.

    Demystifying CNC (Computer Controlled) Woodworking Date: Wednesday, January 30, 2019 Time: 6:00 pm-8:00 pm Location: Burr and Burton Academy Woodshop, Larson Hall Fee: $75

    Come get an overview of the use of a computer controlled (CNC) router. This workshop will cover the basic CNC concepts, an introduction to CNC software (VCarve Pro), and the opportunity to make a simple project on Burr and Burton’s Axiom CNC router. No woodworking experience is necessary.

    Sip & Paint Pottery Date: Saturday, February 2, 2019 Time: 4:00 pm-6:00 pm Location: Manchester Arts Studio & Gallery Fee: $40

    Come paint a ceramic platter, bowl or other functional item in this fun and relaxed studio setting. Stacy will demonstrate methods for transferring designs and text that will allow you to achieve fabulous results. You will leave your finished project at the studio to be glazed and fired again. They will be available in time to give as a Valentine Day present if you’d like.

    Introduction to Woodworking Date: Sunday, February 24, 2019 Time: 3:00 pm-6:00 pm Location: Burr and Burton Academy Woodshop, Larson Hall Fee: $200

    This workshop will provide an introduction to woodworking using both machinery and hand tools. We will explore some of the properties of wood along with basic principles of design and furniture construction. Participants will complete a small project of their choosing.

    Alcohol Ink Flowers on Tile - Workshop #1 Date: Wednesday, February 27, 2019 Time: 6:00 pm-8:00 pm Location: Manchester Arts Studio & Gallery Fee: $35

    Alcohol Inks have a mind of their own and they are crazy fun! In this workshop we will learn to tame the ink and will focus on creating flowers on tiles. Various tools will be used to place the ink on the tile, including brushes, toothpicks, cotton pads and Qtips. We will also move the ink by blowing air through a straw and using canned air to create dramatic floral designs. Each participant will complete two tiles in class.

    Mandala Dot Painting Date: Monday, March 18, 2019 Time: 5:30 pm-7:30 pm Location: Manchester Arts Studio & Gallery Fee: $35

    In Buddhist culture, mandalas are said to transmit positive energy to the environment and to the people who view them. They are believed to affect purification and healing, and to achieve a sense of oneness with the universe. We will be painting our mandalas on 4” x 4” canvases after learning the relatively easy methods for creating perfect symmetrical dots of all sizes. Your finished artwork will be perfect for hanging in an entryway, bedroom or little nook.

    Ukulele Practice Date: Wednesday, March 27, 2019 Time: 6:30 pm-8:00 pm Location: Rupert Kittay Library Fee: $60

    This four-week class is for those who have some basic ukulele skills and want to take it further. Jane will provide some fun music the group can play together, practicing both strumming chords and playing melodies. She will also provide ways that you can practice at home to improve your skills. Students should have their own ukulele, know how to tune it, and be willing to practice at home every week (ten minutes a day is enough) so the group can progress together.

    Writing Fiction – An Intermediate Creative Writing Workshop Date: Monday, April 29, 2019 Time: 6:00 pm-9:00 pm Location: Equinox Village Fee: $100

    In this close-knit, interactive and enjoyable 4-week writing clinic, we will delve into the proven techniques of creative writing, re-learning how to create unforgettable characters, writing compelling dialogue and strong scenes and settings, studying the techniques for showing rather than telling, and creating strong points of view. Overall, we will learn how to write compelling stories. This is an opportunity for you to hone and sharpen your fiction writing skills.
