As the wild edible mushroom season progresses, the types of fungus to be found become more interesting.  Ian Vair, local mushroom expert and chef, leads the workshop.  Chicken of the Woods, Hedgehogs, Boletus and Honey mushrooms will all be available to discover.  “Honey Mushrooms have been proven to be both the world's largest and oldest organism.”  Ian will begin the adventure with a discussion involving safety, understanding field guides, types of fungus and the identification process.  Join the group as we gain knowledge, skills, friends and mushrooms along the way!

Please wear comfortable shoes for hiking the woods and sloping terrain. Bring a water bottle, insect repellent, and a bag for collecting your finds. Space is limited; pre-registration is required.

Ian Vair is a chef and owner of Chaga Moon, a web-based business selling products made from the chaga mushroom. He and his wife also sell their products at local farmers markets. His interest in mushrooms and the study of mycology began over ten years ago and has since grown from hobby to thriving business.
