Ukulele Practice

Date: Wednesday, March 27, 2019 Time: 6:30 pm-8:00 pm Location: Rupert Kittay Library  { MAP } Fee: $60 in advance

PAST PROGRAM

GUEST SPEAKER:

Jane Davies

This four-week class is for those who have some basic ukulele skills and want to take it further. Jane will provide some fun music the group can play together, practicing both strumming chords and playing melodies. She will also provide ways that you can practice at home to improve your skills. Students should have their own ukulele, know how to tune it, and be willing to practice at home every week (ten minutes a day is enough) so the group can progress together.

Class will meet Wednesdays, March 27, April 3, 10, 17.

Jane Davies began playing the ukulele at the age of five in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and later played in school ukulele groups that were established by Chalmers Doane. After moving away from Halifax at the age of fifteen, she continued studying flute and guitar, but in the absence of a ukulele program (or anyone who had ever heard of a ukulele!), she dropped it. In 2010, a ukulele showed up in her life and she’s been enjoying playing ever since, taking workshops at festivals with James Hill, Daniel Ho, Victoria Vox, and others.
